Do you write? If so, what do you like to write about? Why do you write?

I started writing when my 10th grade English Lit professor convinved me to enter a poetry contest after he read a poem I submitted as an assignment. It was a poem about how i viewed love and I wish I still had it, but that poem (which actually won the contest) along with many more were lost years later. I never thought anything I had to say really mattered, but I found comfort in writing. I also really enjoyed playing with rhythm and rhyme and metaphor. As my prof., Mr. Paul, liked to say, "I never met-a-phor I didn't like." He was corny as hell, and I loved that about him.

I guess I still write as a means of trying to understand myself and the world around me and still find comfort in the process. And for me, it is about the process and I never really worry about the final product which is why I always referred to my writing as "scribbling" or "musings". I am sharing a bunch of them here on this my website now and hope that some of you may get some meaning from them, perhaps some common ground that we both have walked. If not, that's fine too. I really appreciate you stopping by and would love to hear from you.

All the best,

Neil
